Product Information

Minoxidil is a well-known vasodilator commonly used in topical formulations for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss) in both men and women. It works by stimulating hair follicles, prolonging the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle, and improving blood flow to the scalp, thereby promoting hair regrowth and slowing hair loss. Originally developed as an oral medication for hypertension, Minoxidil’s hair growth-promoting effects were discovered as a beneficial side effect, leading to its widespread use in dermatology.

Minoxidil is typically available in 2% and 5% topical solutions or foam formulations, with the 5% concentration generally recommended for men and the 2% for women to minimize the risk of side effects such as scalp irritation or unwanted facial hair growth. Visible results may take several weeks to months of consistent use. It is most effective in individuals with recent or mild hair loss and is less effective for complete baldness.

This active ingredient should be applied directly to the scalp on dry hair and scalp, usually twice daily, as per physician or label instructions. Minoxidil should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and care must be taken to avoid contact with eyes or broken skin. While Minoxidil is generally well-tolerated, users may experience side effects like itching, dryness, or temporary shedding during the initial weeks of use.
